The Baby Boomer Tribute Show

This sparkling cabaret show has a little bit of everything. Slanted to celebrate the Baby Boomer era, it also has lots of wonderfully recognisable characters as well.

Led by the irrepressible Irishman Albert, supported by John on keyboard and newcomer to the act Katie Veld, the action is fast, furious and very funny.

There are quite a few quite irreverent comedy songs about topical things such as the water situation, Osama Bin Ladin, growing up and how things aren’t what they used to be.

Lots of impersonations that are particularly clever including Ozzie Osbourne, The Queen, Sonny and Cher, Cher on her own, Billy Connolly and Prince Charles also makes an appearance.

Albert is very talented and easily makes the audience relax and enjoy themselves. He also plays guitar and slips easily from one character to the next with great aplomb.

Katie has a great voice and sings as Liza Minnelli, Cher and Tina Turner as well as several other characters. Veldt enjoys herself immensely and interacts well with the audience, although her style of singing doesn’t really change from one character to the next.

John opens the show with some nice background music and singing and is the master of ceremonies. He keeps the pace fast and often joins in with the comedy being Sonny for Cher and a marvellous Phantom of the Opera.

These three performers are not afraid to ‘strut their stuff’ and the result is brilliant entertainment.

Denise Drysdale began working with television at 10 years of age with Channel 9 in Melbourne.

Denise Drysdale was a regular on Graham Kennedy Show In Melbourne Tonight and was Melbourne’s first Go Go dancer.

Denise’s Drysdale's popularity led to the Australian Government inviting her to perform for the troops in Vietnam for three weeks in 1967. In 1969, she went to the Far East to entertain American troops. In 1974, she became Ernie Sigleys’ barrel girl on The Ernie Sigley Show earning the nick-name Ding Dong. Denise has won two Gold logies and several Silver Logies.

Over the years Denise Drysdale has appeared regularly on numerous television shows including The Ernie and Denise show which was very popular viewing.

As an actress, she has appeared in many movies and plays. In 2000, she celebrated 40 years in television, an extraordinary achievement for any performer.

Lately her work has centered on TV1. She also appears on a television commercial for Bev Marks Beds and does regular guest talks around the country, in between entertaining the Senior Citizens with Morning melodies concerts and presenting fashion parades and other shows.

The show includes stories about Willie to introduce the various songs.

After a 10-15 minute break Norm features some of the Highwaymen songs plus many of his collaborations like Seven Spanish Angels and To all the girls I've loved before. After the second half of the show is done I will take another break and then return with an hour of rock & roll dance music so that the audience can let their hair down. This will fill in a three and a half to four hour night.

They looked spectacular, dressed in a sea of brightly colored hand beaded tops and the audience was truly dazzled by their obvious talents as musicians. The music proved to be a popular choice with many commenting on how delightful it was to know every song. This band sticks to the standards to give that true 1940’s experience. Connie, who put the band together, is all you could ask for in a front person with a voice that simply releases the melody and a wicked sense of humor.

My musical sessions encourage active involvement through a variety of different genres and activities. There have been many instances while singing my repertoire that memories have been evoked, stories retold and emotions have been shared amongst staff and family.

As a trained vocalist I present many songs, some of which are accompanied by guitar while others are sung to recorded tracks. This is a great way to avoid sitting down for the whole session as I am free to move around the room. I also work with other professional accompanists such as piano and guitar which add variety for special occasions and concert style performances.

I have two styles of music sessions. The first is in a concert forum where residents are seated in a lounge area and enjoy a selection of songs. The second involves quieter personal performances that can be arranged for individual sessions or small groups of three or four who share a common musical interest.

I conduct my concerts to include some audience involvement. My repertoire includes songs that residents will know and feel comfortable to sing along to. I encourage audience participation such as clapping and will often hand out percussion instruments such as tambourines and maracas. I find this is a great way to adapt some physical exercise into the program and to lighten the mood.
