Artist 12 Stan-SydneyBorn and raised in sub-tropical Australia, Stanley began drawing at the age of 4 and sold his first cartoon when he was 9. His gift was spotted by an early grade teacher who encouraged him to attend art classes. Over the next 13 years Stanley attended 4 art institutions and won many prestigious awards and prizes. During a 10-year stint as an International Flight Attendant, he took advantage of regular opportunities to work with a band of fellow cabin crew who renovated a string of orphanages in Thailand and Zimbabwe. Stanley’s creations included large colourful cartoon murals on the interiors of the dormitories and dining halls, much to the delight of hundreds of children. As the Creative Director of his own ‘Art Cake’ shops in Sydney, he received much rave media coverage (as well as a note from the Prime Minister!). After a brief spell at Walt Disney TV Animation Studios, Stanley was drawn to the big lights of London in pursuit of greater experience ... and Jane, the future Mrs Toohey. During his 12 years based in the UK, Stanley Toohey established himself as one of the most sought-after live Caricaturist Entertainers’ on the European circuit. It was during this period that he gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (art and design) from the University of Greenwich. Before your function is finished the painting will be ready for auction. The two portraits produced will be consistant with your chosen theme or subject manner. Artist 28 Mark-SydneyAs a commercial artist by trade, Mark began his work in layout and design and paste-up (pre-computers!) before moving into magazine design and computer graphic design. In his early career, he drew a host of products for black-and-white bromide reproduction in newspapers and catalogues. He then reproduced pictorial headings and diagrams and illos for magazine work. Artist 29 Kevin-QldLike most cartoonists, Kevin discovered that he had a talent for drawing at an early age, and just loved to draw, especially horses. He developed his skills considerably since to now being one of Queensland's leading caricaturists, political cartoonists and book illustrators. Kevin is the regular political cartoonist for the Queensland Transport Workers' Union journal The Transport Worker. He has illustrated several books, including bush poetry book Lickerty Spit and other Melting Moments by renown Australian bush poet Robyn Tesch. He was the cartoonist for the Queensland Law Society's Proctor magazine, and FAIRA's newspaper Land Rights Queensland. His commissioned cartoon of all members of the Australian Democrats is currently held by National Australian Archives. |
